David of The White Rock

David of The White Rock or Dafydd y Garreg Wen is a haunting Welsh folk song that suits the melancholic, yet sonorous, timbre of the euphonium. It is said that as David Owen (1712–1741), a Welsh harpist and composer, whose family farm was called White Rock, lay on his death-bed, called for his harp and composed the tune.
